Program Description

This program provides coaches at any level the opportunity learn about and experience their sport in the U.S. Through observation and personal interaction with American coaches, players and sports organizers, foreign coaches learn about American coaching methods, training, competitions and administration.

Coaches have daily interactive activities with American coaches and players. Exact program activities are determined according to the coach's sport and often include: team practices/training sessions, classes, competitions and administrative meetings. School team coaches normally spend much of their time at a host school participating with the school's coaches and team in their practices/training sessions, administration and competitions. Coaches live with American host families, often with a coach or player, allowing them the unique opportunity to learn more about the American way of life by being part of an American family.

Local Coordinators

The program has trained individuals in each community in which a coach is placed who serve as the Local Coordinator. The Local Coordinator is responsible for placing the coach with an appropriate family, coordinating the coach's activities, providing host family and coach orientations, and assisting the coach or family with any other issues as they arise.

Host Families

Coaches are placed in host families that are carefully selected by ACES. Host families are from different socio-economic backgrounds and live in urban and rural areas. All have the intense desire to invite a foreign coach to become a member of their family for the duration of the program.

Local Coordinators
