Student of the Month – February 2017

Thifani is a hard working and upbeat young woman who “always has a song in her heart and a smile on her face” according to her Local Coordinator.

She is a passionate leader who enjoys helping others and her community. Since arriving to the U.S., Thifani has completed over 100 hours of community service. For example, she has gotten involved with the Girl Scouts by planning the very successful Girl Scout Princess Ball, which over 180 people attended. She also helped with the Girl Scout Cookie Drive by delivering boxes of cookies to Girl Scouts so they could go out and sell them.

At school Thifani has maintained a 4.0 GPA all year. She is involved with Model UN, participating in several competitions and winning awards, including Happiest Delegate and Distinguished Diplomat. She is also part of the school theater club and worked behind the scenes to make sets for the school play, South Pacific.

Thifani has enjoyed sharing her culture with her classmates and community by teaching them traditional dances and puppetry from Indonesia. Thank you for all of your hard work, Thifani; your passion and positivity have made you an asset to your community!
