Artists Exchange Program

This program is for established artists of all ages and educational backgrounds to learn about and experience art performance in the US. Through observation and personal interaction with American art instructors, students and performers, international artists can gain first hand knowledge of American techniques, instruction styles and inspiration across a variety of art forms. American art mediums vary greatly from painting and street dance, to theatre and fashion design. The ACES Artist Exchange Program is tailored to the participant’s artistic focus, goals and availability. International artists are placed with American host families that are carefully selected by ACES. Host families are from different socio-economic backgrounds and live in urban and rural areas. All have the desire to invite an international artist to become a member of their family for the duration of the program.

Chinese Professor Jiang Jinjin’s research of East-West Art of Dance during her homestay in the United States is one example of how artists can participate in the ACES Artist Exchange Program. Jiang Jinjin is a professor in the Dance Department at Beijing Youth Political Sciences College who also teaches youth classes and gives seminars across China. Her students have received a number of awards in various dance contests and shows. Sponsored by ACES, Professor Jiang had the exclusive opportunity to come to the United States and conduct research in cooperation with Henderson State University and its Dance Program Director, Ms. Jennifer Maddox. Through her visits with a variety of dance classes, Professor Jiang exchanged ideas about teaching methods and choreography that she has since brought back and incorporated into her work in China.
