ACES recognizes the imperative of global education in our increasingly interdependent world and believes that the development of global citizenship should begin as early as possible in every student’s education. One of the most important tools in training our students as citizens of the world is to offer international exchange opportunities. The Youth Ambassador Exchange does just that.
The YAE program brings small groups of young students (grades 5 to 7) from around the world to the US for 4-week sessions. During the first three weeks, the students participate in classroom and school activities in a local school while living with an American host family. The students become members of their host families and school community, as they experience daily life in the US and share their culture with their American host family, classmates, neighbors and friends. The groups are chaperoned by a teacher or administrator from the sending school/organization, who will also serve as a cultural and educational resource for the American school. ACES provides an American Local Coordinator to locate host families and monitor students during their stay. During their last week of the program, YAE students have the opportunity to visit American sites of interest.
