Cultural Reflection and Connection

The NSLI-Y program has fostered a deep sense of camaraderie and understanding between our students and their Korean peers. Over the course of the past weeks, these connections have transformed into genuine friendships, allowing for an authentic exchange of perspectives and insights. Throughout the fifth week, students engaged in rich cultural discussions, reflecting on the nuances of Korean daily life, customs, and traditions. This exchange of knowledge not only enhances language skills but also promotes a deeper appreciation for the diverse tapestry of our global society.

Culminating Projects in Progress

The fifth week marks a significant turning point in the NSLI-Y program as students dive headfirst into their culminating projects. These projects are the culmination of their efforts, showcasing their language proficiency and cultural understanding. As our students meticulously craft their presentations, they draw upon the knowledge and experiences gained during their time in Korea. Through these projects, our NSLI-Y students are not only refining their language skills but also gaining a deeper insight into the importance of cross-cultural communication and diplomacy.

A Realm of Learning and Exploration

What makes the fifth week truly exceptional is the innovative incorporation of language practice and cultural exchange at Everland, one of Korea’s most popular amusement parks. While enjoying the thrills and attractions, our NSLI-Y students transformed this exciting outing into an unexpected opportunity for language learning. Partnered with their Korean peers, our students prepared interview questions that would allow them to engage with locals while waiting in line or taking a break from the excitement. Guided by a knowledgeable Korean college student, two NSLI-Y students ventured through the park, honing their language skills through real-life interactions.

As the fifth week of the NSLI-Y program draws to a close, our students stand on the precipice of both personal and linguistic transformation. Through cultural reflection, culminating projects, and unexpected language practice at Everland, they have showcased their ability to thrive in a dynamic and multicultural environment. As they continue their journey, we eagerly anticipate the insights and accomplishments that the coming weeks will undoubtedly bring. The NSLI-Y program has not only deepened their language skills but has also empowered them to become global citizens capable of forging connections and bridging cultures.
