NSLI-Y 2023 Turkey – Week 6

Bir fincan kahvenin 40 yıl hatırı vardır

Our final week in Turkey went by in a flash. Students were preparing for their culminating project presentations while doing last minute shopping and packing (and still attending classes!) Our farewell dinner on Friday was a nice chance to pause and thank our host families and teachers for all they have done to make this a memorable experience for our students. Without them, this program wouldn’t be possible!

Final goodbyes on Saturday afternoon as we headed back to Istanbul were hard, but there’s a saying in Turkish “Bir fincan kahvenin 40 yıl hatırı vardır”: in one cup of coffee, there are 40 years of memories. Though six weeks may feel like a short amount of time, I hope the hospitality and friendship the students have experienced will stay with them for a lifetime.

Görüsmek üzere, hosça kalın!
